Help send the following message to the Colorado Springs School District 11 board and union by signing the following petition:
For years Colorado Springs School District 11 has negotiated their contract with the union in secret. Neither teachers, parents, taxpayers or members of the media have been allowed to watch. The school district spends nearly half a billion taxpayer dollars every year – and much of that is negotiated in this agreement behind closed doors.
In a 5-2 vote the D-11 school board voted to open the process but the Colorado Springs Education Association (CSEA), the teachers union, rejected the open door policy. Now it’s time for the school board to stand up for taxpayers, teachers, parents and children. They need to tell the union that they won’t negotiate in private any longer and that if the union wants a contract, they’ll have to do it through an open process. It’s time for openness and transparency. Teachers, parents, taxpayers and children deserve honest, fair and open negotiations.
